User interface

The user interface is used as follows:

Note: When one of the buttons on the user interface (2) is pressed for the first time, the lighting of the user interface and the worklight are switched on. Only then can settings be changed.

If the status indicator (17) lights up yellow continuously even though the power tool is at normal temperature and the battery is charged, contact an authorised after-sales service centre for Bosch power tools.

You can preselect the oscillation speed and change it during operation using the oscillation speed preselection button (22). Press the button for changing the oscillation speed preselection as many times as needed for the required oscillation speed level to be displayed in the indicator (21). The last set oscillation speed level is saved when switching off the power tool.

The required oscillation speed is dependent on the material and the work conditions and can be determined using practical tests.

  • A maximum oscillation speed rate level of "6" is recommended for sawing wood.
  • "4" is the maximum oscillation speed rate level suitable for sanding.
  • "4" is the maximum oscillation speed rate level suitable for sawing plastic and metal.

Caution: Please take note of the information concerning the maximum oscillation speed rate on the accessories or on the packaging of the accessories. Oscillation speed rate level "4" is the maximum level that should be used when working with accessories such as sanding and RIFF accessories.

Note: If the oscillation speed rate is too high, this will considerably increase the wear on the accessories and can also lead to their premature breakdown.

The Adaptive Speed Control function enables precise cuts:

  • With the function switched on, the oscillation speed rate is low for the start of the cut. This maximises the precision with which the saw blade is positioned on the required cut line.
  • As soon as the saw blade enters the workpiece, the oscillation speed rate is automatically increased to the preselected oscillation speed rate level.
  • Once the work process has finished, when the front section of the saw blade leaves the workpiece, the oscillation speed rate is automatically reduced. The power tool remains switched on here.
  • The Adaptive Speed Control function is especially suitable for sawing and separating hard materials like metal or hardwood.
  • To switch the Adaptive Speed Control function on and off, press the mode button (20) repeatedly until the Adaptive Speed Control indicator (18) lights up (on) or goes out (off).

The Stop Control function reduces the risk of damaging neighbouring objects:

  • The power tool switches off automatically at the end of a work process (e.g. when the plunge cut saw blade leaves the workpiece). The Stop Control indicator (19) flashes to indicate automatic shut-down.
  • Switch off the power tool with the on/off switch (3) and switch it back on for the next work process.
  • The Stop Control function is suitable for sawing and separating soft and thin materials (such as plasterboard, cupboard backs, thin skirting boards or plastics). When using the function, always apply even pressure. For harder materials, inconsistent work or other applications (e.g. sanding), a switch-off may not be triggered. You should therefore make sure that there are no power lines behind the workpiece to be cut.
  • To switch the Stop Control function on and off, press the mode button (20) repeatedly until the Stop Control indicator (19) lights up (on) or goes out (off).

The Adaptive Speed Control and Stop Control functions can be used individually or in combination. The function settings are saved when the power tool is switched off.

Press one of the buttons on the user interface (2) for approximately 7 s to reset all settings on the user interface. As confirmation, the status indicator (17) will flash blue 4 times.
